Art Around the World

Celebration of World Art Day on the campus of Auburn University at Montgomery

Location and Date: Wed., April 10 in Taylor Center 230

Participants: Auburn University at Montgomery students, faculty, and staff

Registration: Register below for the event. All registrants will receive a complimentary AUM T-shirt.

Maximum Number: 25 students, faculty, or staff in each session (75 total)

Theme: Cultural Heritage - An expression of the ways of living developed by a community and passed on from generation to generation, including customs, practices, places, objects, artistic expressions and values.

Two sessions: 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

  • 1st Session: Acrylic Painting (9 a.m. – 11 a.m.)
  • 2nd Session: Sketching (11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.)
  • 3rd Session: Acrylic Painting (2 p.m. – 4 p.m.)**This session is full. Please register for session one or session two.
  • Each session will include writing a short paragraph on what your art piece you created means to you

Instructors: Fine Arts majors will assist with instruction at each session.

Judges: Judges from different departments on campus will participate. Judging will take place from 4 p.m. – 5 p.m., following the third session.

Prizes: Prizes will be awarded to three people from each session. There will be first, second, and third place winners in each session. Honorable mentions will be hung along the hallway of the Office of Global Initiatives for a showcase for 3 weeks following the event. Waivers will need to be signed during the event check-in on April 10 for the winning artwork to be posted on social media.

Lunch: Pizza will be provided to all registered participants in Taylor Center 230 as well as a drink and a cookie. Lunch will provided between Session 1 and 2 at 11 a.m.

All participants will need to sign a waiver for the art to be showcased on social media. Waivers will be provided at the event registration table on April 10th.
