 Japan 2015: Innovation and Culture

Auburn University Montgomery Japan 2015: Innovation and Culture Program 

Dates:  May 14, 2015 to May 30, 2015

Program Overview: AUM's Japan 2015: Innovation and Culture Program will send students on a two-week study abroad trip to Japan to look at the pervasion of the high-tech mindset in the Japanese culture, from business, social, art, financial markets, and personal life. 

Course Information: Students will receive 3-6 credit hours

Program Cost: $2,075 after $1000 scholarship

San Cristóbal, Chiapas, Mexico

Auburn University Montgomery Intensive Spanish Language and Indigenous Cultures in San Cristobal, Chiapas, Mexico

Dates:  May 30, 2014 to June 30, 2014

Program Overview: The Division of International Studies announces a four week study abroad program in San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico. Students chosen to participate in the program will study intensive Spanish Language and the indigenous Maya cultures in the southernmost state of Mexico.

Course Information: Students will receive credit for up to two of the following:  SPAN 1010,1020, 2010, 2020, or two 3000 level classes

Program Cost: About $2,500 with $700 in personal expenses

Sri Lanka

Auburn University Montgomery  Cultural Field Experience in Sri Lanka

Dates: June 6, 2014 to June 20, 2014

Program Overview: The Office of Global Initiatives announces a two-week study abroad program in South Asia- Sir Lanka, visiting cultural cities associated with the various religious tradition of the subcontinent and historical sites associated with the various kingdoms that thrived on the island. Students will learn how Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, and Christianity have shaped the culture and history of the region from a multidisciplinary approach. They will also learn about folk religion and religious syncretism. 

Course Information: INTL 3010 or INTL 6400 (Hours/Credit: 0/3)

Program Cost: $1,713.00 per student (With the INTL 3013/INTL6400 you must also pay AUM tuition for course credit)

Auburn University Montgomery: The Germany Experience

Program Overview: A student does not need to able to speak and understand German to observe intercultural communications and barriers to intercultural communication. Students will learn how to engage in intercultural ingrained systems of verbal and nonverbal behaviors relevant to a situation at hand. Program Overview: This study abroad experience will provide a taste of field research methods/topics and engage students in various field research activities within lowland rain forest and highland cloud forest habitats as they explore the diverse flora and fauna of the forested wilderness.

Dates: May 28, 2014 to June 2, 2014

Program Overview: The counseling program in the School of Education is offering an option to participate in a trip to England and earn 3 graduate credit hours in diversity. All graduate students are invited to participate. 

Students will learn to participate in the Northampton Institute at Northampton University. They will also have trips to London, Cambridge, two villages, and the local area. Speakers from the USA and other countries will present sessions on a variety of life styles from different countries.

Oxford and London, UK

Auburn University Montgomery  Re-Inklings 2014 (English and Philosophy) 
Dates: July 9, 2014 to July 18, 2014

Program Overview: In the 1930's and 1940's, a group of writers in Oxford, England, met regularly to read and discuss each other's work. They called themselves "The Inklings".

AUM Study Abroad 2014 Re-Inklings trip is devoted to engaging with the most important writings produced by these authors. Students will spend six days in Oxford and two in London, primarily visiting sites connected to the lives and works of C.S. Lewis, J. R. R. Tolkien, and the other Inklings.
