Grievance Procedures


AUM 504 GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE

The following procedures are presented in order to comply with Federal Law Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, by the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) and the ADA Amendments Act of 2008 (ADAAA).

If you feel that you are being excluded from the participation in, being denied the benefits of, or being subjected to discrimination solely because of your disability, the following steps are suggested:

1. Contact the person(s) considered to be the source of the problem as soon as possible after the complained of event and discuss your concerns.

2. If the situation cannot be resolved, contact the Director of Center for Disability Services (CDS) or the Student Services Coordinator to schedule an appointment to discuss your concerns.

3. If you still feel that your concern has not been addressed to your satisfaction, it is suggested that you make an appointment with the AUM 504 Compliance Officer and share your concern.  The AUM 504 Compliance Officer will inform all involved parties of his or her progress, findings or resolution within 10 business days.

You have the right at any point in this procedure to file a formal written complaint under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act with the Office of Civil Rights within 180 calendar days of the date of the alleged discrimination.
