English as a Second Language

TESOL Certificate Program

Our goal in the TESOL Program is to equip individuals regardless of their educational background with the skills necessary to Teach English to Speakers of Other Languages in the United States or abroad.  We offer two programs at AUM, a traditional program where students can interact with other classmates and teachers and a fully-online program where students all over the world can set their own pace and learn from the comfort of their home.  The only requisite we have for our program is that the student have a good command of written and spoken English.

The traditional program meets twice a week on AUM’s beautiful campus and consists of four classes. Three of the courses are sit-in where the student must be present and one course is an online elective where you can choose from a variety of classes that deal with areas specific to TESOL.

The fully-online program is designed to be completely entirely via the Internet.  There are no on-campus tests and no visitations are necessary.  All classes and evaluations are completed online.   We are currently able to offer two tracks for our online program: Adult Education and K-12 Education.  Both tracks of this program consist of four core classes and two electives.
