Psychological Disorders

To be eligible for services, qualified students with psychological disorder(s) who meet the technical and academic standards of Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) must submit to the Center for Disability Services (CDS) current documentation by a qualified provider which describes the disability as outlined below.
A letter or psychological evaluation from a mental health professional (psychologist, neurophysiologist, or licensed professional counselor) which includes the following:

  1. Clearly stated diagnosis based on DSM-5 criteria.
  2. Defined levels of functioning and any limitations.
  3. Supporting documentation (i.e. test data, history, observations, etc.).
  4. Current treatment and medication.
  5. Current letter/evaluation (within six months of enrollment date), dated and signed.
    Medication cannot be used to imply a diagnosis.

As defined in Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, and the ADA Amendments Act of 2008, qualified students with disabilities who meet the technical and academic standards at Auburn University at Montgomery are entitled to reasonable accommodations.
