Honors Program
The University Honors Program at AUM fosters academic excellence among outstanding students and offers special courses and events along with supplementary instruction. If you participate, the program will increase the depth and breadth of your college experience as you work within the structure of your major course of study. Incoming freshmen and current AUM students may be eligible. Since all Honors work except for the one-hour Colloquium either fulfills the general education requirements or counts toward your major, you can complete any baccalaureate program and the Honors Program without increasing the number of hours needed for graduation.
The Honors Program also has social and service components that are meant to enhance and broaden the student's college experience as well as their educational experience. With multiple service and volunteer opportunities and a variety of different social events, the student will be exposed to the world beyond the classroom and beyond the University's campus.

Honors Program Entry Criteria
Meet any one of three criteria:
- Scoring above average on the ACT.
- Earning a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or greater.
In the case that the student doesn't meet either of the above criteria, he or she can submit and application as well as a recommendation from a full-time faculty member and the application will go to the University Honors Committee for consideration.
All applicants for the Honors Program should have at least two semesters left at AUM before they graduate.
Two Program Levels
Level 1
If you participate at Level 1, you earn the designation "University Honors Student" on your transcript; this title is announced as you walk across the stage at graduation, your name is noted as an Honors Student in the graduation program, and you get to wear the white Honors cord which the program provides to you. Between your enrollment in the Honors Program and graduation, you must meet these minimum requirements: Completion of the Honors Colloquium, which is a one hour course for which you receive an S or a U (satisfactory or unsatisfactory), and the completion of 23 additional honors hours.
Level II
At Level II, your only requirements are to take at least three Honors-credit courses plus the Honors Colloquium for a total of 10 honors hours prior to graduation. Level II students earn the designation “University Honors Participant” on their transcript, and that designation is announced as they walk across the stage at graduation. They are noted in the graduation program as honors students, and are provided the white cord of an honors student by the Honors Program.
