Memorabilia to be auctioned at 2009
Blue Jean Ball
Hike up your blue jeans and grab a sombrero for “South of the Border,” the ninth annual Blue Jean Ball. Hosted by the Auburn and Auburn Montgomery Schools of Nursing, the event will be held Friday, Sept. 25, at Pat Dye’s Auburn Oaks in Notasulga.
Exquisite food and live entertainment will be provided, but the excitement of the night culminates with a live auction following dinner emceed by Dye and Randy Campbell, quarterback from Auburn’s 1983 SEC Championship Team. Items up for bid include a guitar and album autographed by Carlos Santana; an Iron Bowl game day package, including parking, tickets and dinner for four; a one-of-a-kind handmade Auburn orange and blue quilt in beautiful, batik prints; and a trip for four to an exclusive resort in Mexico.
For Bama fans, also included in the auction are golf clubs that belonged to Coach Bear Bryant, given to Dye when he was an assistant coach to Bryant.
Proceeds from the ball will support the two nursing schools and provide scholarships for current and future nursing students at the schools.
“Since the first ball was held in 2001, over 250 scholarships for nursing students have been awarded,” said Shelley Grider, development officer for Auburn nursing. “In addition, Dean Barbara Witt has established Blue Jean Ball Scholarship Endowments at both schools to generate financial support for future nursing students at Auburn Montgomery and Auburn.”
Individual tickets are $100 each, and reserved tables for 8 guests are available for $1,000. To purchase tickets, contact 334-844-7390.
