Transfer Assistance

Transfer applicants should have a cumulative grade point average of a 2.0 or higher for full admission. If you have passed fewer than 24 semester or 36 quarter hours, you must also meet freshman admission requirements. Applicants will be notified of admission status by mail as soon as the application process is complete.

The Application Process

All applicants must:

  • Complete an admission application online or download a printable Undergraduate Application.
  • Send a check or money order for the non-refundable application fee for $25 payable to Auburn University at Montgomery. Students transferring from Auburn University are not required to pay the application fee.
  • Send an official transcript to the Auburn Montgomery Admissions Office from each college or university you have attended. If you are currently enrolled, an additional final transcript must be sent upon completion of course work.

Students transferring from Alabama Public two-year institutions should consult the Statewide Transfer & Articulation Reporting System - STARS web site for the appropriate Alabama Articulation & General Studies Committee.

AGSC & STARS

Note: You may transfer up to 60 semester hours from any two-year college.

Auburn Montgomery requires undergraduates to complete general studies core curriculum as well as the requirements for the specific major they have chosen. The core includes:

  • Composition (6 semester hours)

  • Humanities and Fine Arts (12 semester hours)

  • Natural Sciences and Mathematics (11 semester hours)

  • History, Social Sciences and Behavioral Sciences (12 semester hours)

Note: Not all classes listed on the AGSC approved transfer guide are listed on the AUM transfer guide. However, these courses will fulfill Area I-IV requirements.

MILITARY SERVICE CREDITS

Credit for Military Schools
Auburn Montgomery follows the recommendations of the American Council on Education for successful completion of service schools, including AWC and ACSC. Credit for military education is evaluated by the Registrar or appropriate staff member. The applicability of such credit to a specific program will be determined by the Dean of the school concerned.

Credit for USAFI/DANTES Level Tests and Subject Standardized Tests
Undergraduate credit may be allowed for college level courses completed by correspondence or for subject examinations administered by the Armed Forces Institute or institution approved by the Armed Forces Institute and other accredited institutions as approved by the Dean concerned.

Credit Recommended by the American Council on Education
The ACE presently evaluates both military schools and civilian training programs for academic credit. Since this evaluation is handled by faculty members of accredited institutions of higher learning, Auburn University at Montgomery will accept the ACE recommendations for credit earned in nonacademic programs. The applicability of such credit to a specific program will be determined by the Dean of the school and faculty advisor.

 

Transfer vs. Transient

Confused about the terms? You are a transfer student if you are interested in attending AUM full or part time to finish your degree or least for several semesters.

You are a transient student if you are interested in coming to AUM to take a course or two in order to fulfill degree requirements at another college or university. You also are a transient student if you are an AUM student interested in taking a course or two at another university as part of completing your AUM degree.
