AUM Basketball Teams Nationally Ranked

KANSAS CITY, Mo.—The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has released the 2009-10 Preseason men’s and women’s coaches’ basketball polls, and both Auburn University at Montgomery teams are ranked.
The Lady Senators are coming off a top 25 ranking last season and enter the 2009-10 season ranked 22nd in the preseason poll.
The Lady Senators return four starters off last year’s team that went 20-9 and made an appearance at the NAIA National Tournament.
AUM is the second highest ranked Southern States Athletic Conference team in the poll, as perennial national power Lee University is ranked fifth. The Lady Senators will get tested early as it will face 20th-ranked Bethel College (Tenn.) and sixth-ranked Freed-Hardeman University at the Freed-Hardeman LionBacker Classic on Nov. 6-7 at Freed-Hardeman.
The Senators will enter the new season ranked 20th in the preseason poll. AUM finished last season with a 27-7 record and made it to the quarterfinals of the NAIA National Tournament.
AUM returns one starter and four returners from last season’s team and will have nine newcomers on the 09-10 team.
AUM will face 18th-ranked Freed-Hardeman University this Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Freed-Hardeman LionBacker Classic. The Senators will also face 23rd-ranked Life University on Nov. 13 at the Jimmy Faulkner Classic.
