Jonsson, Arnarson Lead AUM Past Thomas

MONTGOMERY—Sveinn Jonsson and Stephan Arnarson had two goals each to lead Auburn University at Montgomery to a 6-0 win over Thomas University.
It did not take the Senators long to break into the scoring column as Gunnar Kristinsson took a pass from Yuki Kariya in the fifth minute for a quick 1-0 lead.
The Senators could not break into the scoring column again in the first half and the two teams went to the locker room with a 1-0 lead.
It did not take AUM long to score coming out in the second half as Jonsson scored his first goal of the match on an assist from Richonne Clark. Jonsson scored again in the 59th minute on an assist from
Kristinsson.
From there Stephan Arnarson scored on loose balls in the box within 30 seconds of each other to put the game out of reach 5-0.
Kariya finished off the scoring in the 78th minute off an assist from Chris Ross. Kile Kennedy was in goal for AUM and picked up his fourth shutout of the year.
It was senior day at AUM and it was fitting for Jonsson and Kariya to have a big day in their final regular season match of their careers.
The Senators move to 10-3-2 overall and Thomas is 6-8-1. AUM will conclude its regular season, Wednesday, Nov. 4 at Faulkner University. The match is slated for the YMCA Fields and will begin at 3 p.m.
