Thordarson, Elam Named to Academic All-District Team

MONTGOMERY—Amber Elam of the Auburn University at Montgomery women’s soccer team and Arnar Thordarson from the men’s team has been named to the Academic All-District 4 First Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Elam is a junior from Valdosta, Ga., and is majoring in pre-pharmacy at AUM. Thordarson is a senior from Akureyri, Iceland and is majoring in economics.

Both players have been superb both in the classroom and on the field. They have both been named to the SSAC All-Academic Team as well as to the Vice-Chancellor’s Academic Honor Roll.

To be nominated a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. The student-athlete must have competed in 50 percent of the team’s games and must have completed one full calendar year at their institution.

Since Elam and Thordarson were named to the first-team, they will now move on to be considered for the ESPN The Magazine All-America Academic Team.
