On Feb. 20, 2009, the Auburn Montgomery Lady Senators softball team split two games in tournament play at Faulkner University. The 6-5 loss to William Carey was the first-ever official game for the new program and the 7-3 win over Mobile was its first victory.

Coach Christina Wilcoxson’s program is the newest at AUM and has already generated a buzz on campus. Wilcoxson, a star player at Auburn University and a coach with experience at launching new programs, has put together a talented group of athletes, many of whom will be also be a part of next year’s squad, which will be the first to play all of its games on campus at the new AUM softball complex. Currently, the Lady Senators’ home games are played at Fain Park.
