As a veteran, you are entitled to certain benefits and are eligible to participate in certain programs. The Veteran Services Office assists:
- Veterans
- Reservists
- Guardsmen
- Dependents of disabled or deceased veterans
While the Veterans Affairs Office at AUM does not determine eligibility for assistance, we do ensure that proper paperwork is completed, certified and filed with the VA so that payment of benefits can begin. If you require additional information, contac the Auburn Montgomery's Veterans Affairs office at 334-244-3288.
Academic Plan of Study Check-sheet
All students receiving VA benefits are required to provide the Veteran Services Office with this form. Your academic advisor will provide this form and work with you in developing your plan. Your Plan of Study Check-sheet must:
- list all courses required for your degree
- indicate which courses are already satisfied, either by prior college credit or previous course work completed at AUM
- be signed by your dean or advisor
Once you have completed all necessary forms, it takes 6-8 weeks for the Veterans Administration's Regional Office (VARO) to finish processing your claim.
Registration Cancellation Policy
The AUM Registration Cancellation Policy requires that students pay tuition and fees by the Registration Cancellation deadline at the beginning of each semester or their courses will be cancelled. Re-registration will be permitted only if payments or payment arrangements are made at the time of registration. Financial aid awards made and accepted by the student will be paid toward tuition and fees before the registration cancellation deadline; however, Veterans' benefits are not considered financial aid for this payment policy so veterans' are encouraged to make payments or payment arrangements to prevent course cancellation.
