Fall 2010 Commencement Ceremony |
Saturday, December 18, 2010 There will be two ceremony for the schools at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. |
Instructions for Guests |
- Arrive early. No one will be permitted onto the first floor after capacity has been reached or the processional begins, whichever comes first, even if they have reserved seats.
- Remain for the entire ceremony. It is very distracting and disrespectful for guests to leave during the ceremony.
- Guests with small children are requested to find seating on the second floor where the restrooms are located.
- If a guest leaves the first floor, for whatever reason, they will not be allowed back onto the first floor after the ceremony begins.
- Turn off or silence cell phones. Do not make or receive calls from the gym during the ceremony.
- Do not set up camera equipment in the aisles.

Instructions for Graduates |
Cap & Gown Pick Up: You must pick up your cap and gown by July 30th from the AUM Bookstore. The Bookstore is not open on the day of graduation. |
Honor Cord Pick Up: If you qualify for academic honors designation, you may pick up your cord at the Commencement Assembly before the ceremony. If you are receiving a cord from another organization, pick it up from the sponsor before the day of commencement. |
Special Needs: If you have a disability and require assistance, contact the Registrar’s Office at 334-244-3125. |
Appropriate Dress for the Ceremony: Candidates should wear black clothing under the gown. Men should wear black trousers, black socks and black dress shoes with a white shirt. Women should wear a black dress or white blouse and black skirt with sensible black dress shoes. (You will be doing a lot of walking.) The tassel on your mortar board hangs on the right of the cap as you enter the ceremony. During the ceremony, when the degrees are conferred, you will move it to the left. |
Pre-Commencement Meeting: Plan to attend a pre-commencement meeting in Room 221 of Taylor Center at 8:30 a.m. on the morning of the ceremony. |
