Staff Council

The Staff Council represents all employees at Auburn University at Montgomery below the rank of Vice Chancellor who do not hold an academic appointment. It serves to effect beneficial changes by serving in an advisory capacity to the administration through the promotion of better understanding, cooperation and communication among all constituent groups of Auburn University at Montgomery.

The Staff Council endorses the mission and goals of Auburn University at Montgomery. It also promotes the advancement of all staff members through seminars, workshops, and continuing education opportunities, to develop his/her full potential as an employee of Auburn University at Montgomery. The Staff Council does not establish policies or procedures, nor shall it serve as a grievance committee.

Quarterly and Annual Staff Service Awards

The Staff Service Development Committee accepts nominations for quarterly awards at the end of each quarter. The awards are given to staff employees in recognition of their outstanding service, dedication and support of the academic mission of Auburn University Montgomery. The Employee of the Year in each category is then selected from the winners of the previous four quarters and are announced at the annual Staff Council Spring Fling.

One staff employee from each of the following categories will be recognized: administrative and professional, support staff and service.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible an employee must meet the following requirements:

1. Be a full-time or part-time permanent staff employee, or a full-time staff/part-time faculty employee.
2. Have been employed for at least one full year prior to Jan. 1 of the nomination year, regardless of quarter.
3. Not have been a recipient of an award within the past two years.

Nomination Process

The Staff Development Committee accepts nominations of staff employees who display a mastery of their jobs, have a positive attitude toward AUM, command respect, are congenial and volunteer in Staff Council/university/student/community committees or activities. Nominations can be made through three easy steps: fill out a Quarterly Staff Service Awards Nomination Form, sign it, and mail it in.
