AUM liberal arts junior Jessica Meuse is spending the summer on tour with American Idol after making it all the way to the Top 4 of the TV singing competition during its 13th season in the spring. The Idol tour will make a stop in Alabama, at Birmingham-Jefferson Civic Center, on July 26.
The Slapout native with bright pink hair says her style is “a blend of rock with a southern twist” and her musical influences are Coldplay, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Stevie Nicks, Death Cab for Cutie, Shinedown, Apocalyptica, Alter Bridge, Group Love and Bruno Mars.
At AUM, Meuse is pursing a Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree. She has studied music and studio arts in the Department of Fine Arts and public relations and costume construction in the Department of Communication and Dramatic Arts.
“The Liberal Arts degree allows her to take classes in all of the disciplines she is interested in as a creative and passionate performing artist,” said Meuse’s advisor, Dana Bice. “Music is a part of her daily life, and it is wonderful seeing her receive national exposure on American Idol.”
The School of Liberal Arts hosted a viewing party and worked to get out the vote for Meuse throughout the season.
