| Bio | |
| | Andrew Hairstans received his undergraduate degree from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in Dundee, Scotland, and his MFA in two-dimensional art from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. Before arriving at Auburn University at Montgomery he taught at John A. Logan College in Carterville, Illinois. Mr. Hairstans' recent work features monochromatic paintings of urban environments. The scenes represented often have a mundane quality. Visual perception, distortion, and a sense of being in transit come into play in his paintings. In 2006 his work was published in the 65th edition of New American Paintings. He recently showed work at the Sioux City Art Center and the Moberly Area Community College. Mr. Hairstans currently has gallery representation at the Amsterdam Whitney International Fine Arts, Inc. in New York City. | | |
