Matthew Ragland is a Professor of Mathematics and the Associate Provost for Graduate studies and Faculty Services.  He served two years as the Associate Dean of the School of Sciences (2008-2010).  He has a wide range of mathematical interests including Algebra, Set Theory, Topology, and Graph Theory. His current research lies in the area of Finite Group Theory, and, for the most part, in the solvable realm. More specifically, he has characterized several distinct classes of finite solvable groups, all of which are certain generalizations of groups in which normality is a transitive relation. He is quite interested in questions involving T-groups, PT-groups, PST-groups and also with questions concerning the permutability of certain subgroups. However he is interested in all aspects of Group Theory.
