Advising
Auburn Montgomery requires all students to seek the guidance of an academic advisor before registering for courses. Students are responsible for meeting with their assigned academic advisor prior to course registration for guidance in selecting courses that comply with their specific program/major requirements. Once the advisor gives signed approval for courses, students can obtain personal identification numbers (PINs) that allows registration on AUM's online registration system.
Students at Auburn Montgomery are broken into three groups for academic advising:
-
Bridge Program Student Advising - Students who have been admitted to the Bridge program at Auburn Montgomery are advised by a member of the Bridge program staff.
-
Undeclared Major Advising - Students who are fully admitted to Auburn Montgomery but have not declared a major of study are advised in the
School of Liberal Arts.
-
Declared Major Advising - Students who are fully admitted to Auburn Montgomery and have declared a major are advised in the School or department in which the major falls.

Pre-professional Program Advising
Pre-professional curricula (e.g., pre-medicine, pre-pharmacy, pre-law) are not majors. Students completing one of these curricula will be required to declare a separate major (Biology, Chemistry, Political Science, etc.). Such students will need advising in their pre-professional curriculum and in their major.
