Students interested in applying for federal financial assistance for the summer semester may complete the 2013 Summer Request Form after registering for summer courses. Financial aid for the summer semester is typically based on unused eligibility and remaining funding from the 2012-2013 aid year, and applicants must have completed a 2012 - 2013 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Also, students must meet all components of the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Policy once spring grades are posted.
Pell Grant recipients who have not exhausted their annual limit in the Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 semesters will have remaining Pell Grant funds available for the Summer semester. Pell Grant recipients who have exhausted their annual limit in the Fall and Spring semesters will not have Pell eligibility remaining for the Summer semester.
Federal student loans are available to students who have not reached their annual and/or aggregate loan limits. Applicants must be enrolled at least half-time (6 undergraduate hours or 4.5 graduate hours) for loan consideration for the summer semester.
Summer awards must be reviewed manually by the Financial Aid Office, and in many circumstances eligibility cannot be determined until spring grades have posted (for currently enrolled students). Therefore, your patience is requested while your application is processed. Applications will only be processed after you have registered for summer courses. An award notification or an update indicating you have no remaining eligibility will be emailed to your AUM email account once your application has been processed.
