AUM's Alabama Training Institute helps address state's critical issues

by User Not Found | Aug 26, 2013

Managers of state agencies offered solutions to some of Alabama’s most challenging issues at the 2013 Solutions Alabama program on August 14 at the Alabama Capitol. Hosted by AUM's Alabama Training Institute, the program highlighted students in AUM’s Certified Public Manager (CPM) program and how they approach critical issues impacting the state.

“Solutions Alabama is our capstone project of the CPM program and it engages our students to apply management principles, leading best practices and problem-solving strategies to identify solutions that can help Alabama,” said Leslie Meadows, director of the CPM program. “The Solutions Alabama project has allowed these managers to demonstrate their knowledge, apply their expertise in unique ways and identify strategies that have a significant impact on our state and region.”

The program focused on several key areas:

  • Alabama Trauma System
  • Correctional Officer Retention
  • Critical Infrastructure Protection: Commercial Facilities
  • Restorative Justice for Juveniles
  • School Safety
  • Underage Drinking
The nationally accredited CPM program at the Alabama Training Institute has provided comprehensive management training to hundreds of leaders across Alabama for more than 25 years. Dynamic and engaging, the program seeks to develop and enhance the skills of managers in Alabama – inspiring new ways of thinking and innovative approaches to problem solving.

Techniques learned in the CPM program can be utilized in any work environment and bring a renewed perspective to work units and agencies as a whole. The program is a tool for government organizations, particularly during lean times, as managers are forced to rethink their approaches and pioneer methods that allow their agencies to save time, effort and money.

The Alabama Training Institute is a unit of Auburn Montgomery Outreach and serves as a resource for customized training and professionally accredited programs designed for the public sector.
