BerlinAirlift_story Auburn Montgomery's chapter of Phi Alpha Theta National History Honor Society will host a talk by veterans of the Berlin Airlift on Tuesday, Sept. 24, from 1 to 3 p.m. in Goodwyn Hall 109.

Eddie Ide, a veteran's advocate for the Berlin Airlift Veterans Association, will be on campus with several German citizens to talk about this historical event from their perspective. This event is free and open to the public.

In addition, one of the last C-54s still flying in the world, the "flying museum" known as Spirit of Freedom, will be at the Montgomery Airport for the 65th reunion of Berlin Airlift personnel. This large, four-engine aircraft is owned and flown by volunteer members of the Berlin Airlift Historical Foundation based in Toms River, N.J. Since its inception in 1989, the award-winning Spirit of Freedom flying memorial has attended several hundred air shows spreading the story of the world's largest humanitarian airlift. The C-54 will be parked at Montgomery Aviation and open for the public at no charge from Wednesday, Sept. 25, through Sunday, Sept. 29, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Uniformed crew members will be on hand to answer questions.
