Retired NBA All-Star discusses teamwork at Business Breakfast

Retired NBA All-Star Mark Eaton discussed the “Four Commitments of a Winning Team” as part of the AUM Business Breakfast on May 22. More than 200 River Region business leaders gathered at Marriott Legends at Capitol Hill to hear the 7-foot-4-inch Utah Jazz legend share his rags-to-riches life story.

While working as an auto mechanic at age 21 in California, Eaton was recruited to join Cypress Junior College’s basketball team having barely played the sport. He went on to spend 12 years with the Utah Jazz - breaking the NBA record for most blocked shots and becoming NBA Defensive Player of the Year twice - before retiring from the game due to injury. In his post-NBA career, Eaton has reinvented himself as a business leader, entrepreneur, and radio and TV personality.

Sponsors included Alabama Power Company, Alagasco, AT&T, Baptist Health, city of Montgomery, city of Prattville, Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce, Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce, Montgomery County Commission, Regions Bank, River Bank & Trust, Jackson Thornton, WSFA, AKD Sportswear and Marriott Legends.

The event was the final AUM Business Breakfast of the year. The Business Breakfast series will return in the fall. Watch for updates, as well as other professional development opportunities, at
