Alabama Power grant to support Tree Campus USA efforts

by Buffy Lockette | Jul 28, 2014
Auburn Montgomery’s lush 500-acre campus is getting even greener thanks to a grant from the Alabama Power Foundation. For the second year, the Alabama Power Foundation’s Good Roots program has awarded a $1,000 grant to AUM for the purchase of trees. The university’s sustainability program will use the trees for service learning projects, allowing students to connect to the environment by planting trees on campus. Earlier this year, AUM became the first college campus in the River Region and fourth in the state to earn Tree Campus USA designation from the Arbor Day Foundation.
