At AUM, you can pursue your graduate degree in more than 48 fields, as well as choose from our doctoral degree program: Doctor of Nursing Practice. GMAT and GRE Waivers may be available in some cases.

Complete the online application and pay the $25 application fee. The application fee is non-refundable. You will need to create an account if you are visiting the page for the first time.

Transcripts
To apply to AUM, you’ll need to request official transcripts of all completed coursework from your previous college. Transcripts should be sent to the address below. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required for admittance to master’s programs.

Test Scores

Frequently Asked Questions
It is preferred for students to have official transcripts delivered electronically to AUM’s Graduate Admissions Office. If your school uses the National Student Clearinghouse or Parchment, a specific email is not needed. You should be able to just select “Auburn University at Montgomery, Admissions.” Some colleges utilize lesser known electronic delivery services that will request an email. Please phone (334)244-3623 if you need to know a specific email address for delivery. Electronic delivery is much faster than through the postal system and will help ensure that you are able to meet deadlines. Please remember that the transcript needs to arrive at AUM from the student’s previously attended institutions through a delivery service in order to be official.

Standardized test requirements at AUM vary depending on the program you are applying to. As a general rule, GRE scores are not required for most graduate admissions at AUM. However, specific programs, particularly business programs, may require the GMAT, and AUM does offer GMAT/GRE waivers for eligible applicants, so it is worth asking about waivers when you apply. Waivers are dependent upon GPA.
If you are an international student, English language proficiency is an additional requirement. AUM typically requires TOEFL or IELTS scores as proof of English proficiency for international graduate applicants. Score requirements can vary by program.
A strong AUM graduate application typically includes several key components. First, official transcripts from all previously attended institutions, sent electronically to AUM’s Admissions Office, not uploaded through the portal. Second, letters of recommendation, typically 2 to 3, from individuals who can speak specifically to your academic abilities and professional potential. A detailed letter from a professor or supervisor who knows your work well carries significantly more weight than a generic letter from a high-ranking official who knows you only by name.
Third, a Statement of Purpose (SOP), which is your primary advocacy piece, use it to explain your academic background clearly, what you have learned, your research or professional goals, and why AUM’s specific program is the right fit for you. Use concrete examples from labs, internships, or classroom projects to illustrate skills like resilience and critical thinking—finally, a current resume or CV. Before submitting, proofread everything carefully; typos and misspellings signal a lack of attention to detail and can hurt an otherwise strong application.
Your Statement of Purpose is the centerpiece of your AUM graduate application. It should present a clear narrative that demonstrates your professional and academic fit for the program. Go beyond listing achievements, explain what you have learned from your experiences, use specific examples from labs, internships, or classroom projects to illustrate key skills, and make a compelling case for why AUM’s program aligns with your goals. Prepare an elevator pitch in your mind first: a concise summary of your research goals and your reasons for choosing AUM’s specific program. That clarity should come through in every paragraph of your SOP.
For recommendation letters, request them at least one to two months before the application deadline. Give your recommenders ample context, share your resume, your SOP draft, and specific achievements you would like them to highlight. A professor or supervisor who can speak in detail about your actual work will be far more persuasive to AUM’s admissions committee than a brief note from someone with an impressive title who barely knows you. AUM’s admissions committees look at the whole person, weighing passion, background, and unique potential alongside academic metrics.
After submitting your graduate application to AUM, you can monitor the status of your application through AUM’s online application portal. You will receive an email confirmation once your application has been submitted, and subsequent updates, including requests for additional documentation, will be communicated to your AUM email account or the email address provided during application. AUM typically processes graduate applications within 2 to 3 weeks of receiving all required materials, so make sure every document, including official transcripts sent directly from your institution, is submitted promptly.
If you are invited for an interview, treat it as a very positive sign; receiving an interview invitation generally means you are already considered a top candidate for the program. Prepare by revisiting your Statement of Purpose, brushing up on your research interests, and being ready to articulate clearly why AUM’s program is the right fit for your goals.
