University Honors Program


MISSION:  Since 1981 the mission of the University Honors Program is to provide an environment in which highly motivated students participate as part of a diverse community committed to preparing them intellectually and socially for the challenges and responsibilities of being citizens with global perspectives. 

OBJECTIVES:  To accomplish that mission, the UHP enhances the experience of Honors Program students by engaging them in the development and demonstration of                                   

  • creative/critical thinking
  • teamwork and leadership
  • in a context of global citizenship

    UHP Admission Requirements:

    • Admission to AUM
    • ACT score 27 or higher or SAT score 1220 or higher
    • GPA 3.5 or higher

    Transfer and continuing AUM students may apply for admission with a recommendation from a full-time faculty member, response to essay prompts, and an on campus interview. The Honors Committee will consider those applications as well.

    All applicants for the Honors Program should have at least four semesters left at AUM prior to graduation.
